3 Ways to Give Back for Thanksgiving

wealth-management-denver-4.png

If you're checking off your to-do list before Thanksgiving, you are not alone! I am working my way through how much butter I actually need to purchase this week (does 12 sticks seem excessive to you?). And while the holidays are a great time to be thankful and enjoy festivities, it's always important to pause and think about how to give back. If you're in the Denver area,  9 News released a list of local charities you can help this season; here are a few to check out:

Denver Rescue Mission

The Denver Rescue Mission provides resources for homeless and needy families in the city. They have several holiday drives. The Mission wants to put a Turkey on Every Table this Thanksgiving. You can donate a frozen turkey or make a cash contribution. You can also 'Adopt-a-Family' in need this Christmas. Items can be donated at the Lawrence Street Shelter, 1130 Park Ave. West in Denver.

Denver Dumb Friends League

If you want to help pets this holiday season, you can donate your time, money, or supplies to the shelter's three locations. Their 'Paws to Give' fund and supply drive takes place at their three facilities — the Quebec Street Shelter in Denver, the Buddy Center in Castle Rock, and the Harmony Equine Center in Franktown. You can fill out a "paw" decoration with a donation amount and a message, which then is displayed on their walls. Donations of supplies are also welcome to help DDFL care for their animals. A wish list can be found online

Operation: Turkey Sandwich

House for All Sinners and Saints (HFASS) in Denver will host its annual Operation: Turkey Sandwich this Thanksgiving. This event brings together members of the HFASS family with members of the Denver community to prepare, assemble, and distribute 1,000 lunches to those who have to work on Thanksgiving Day. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to arrive at or after 10:00 on November 26th at the House for All Sinners and Saints, St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2201 Dexter Street, Denver. To RSVP, or to sign up to make some food please visit their website, or their Facebook Page.
